Your budget should go on searches that buy.

People searching on Google are already looking for something. The skill is understanding what, and what's going on in their head at that moment.

Someone typing "emergency plumber Bristol" needs something very different from someone typing "how much does a new boiler cost". I map the touch points in your customers' journey and the intent behind each search, then give each one the right keyword, ad and landing page. The budget follows intent.

Broad keywords, automated bidding without guardrails and tracking that counts the wrong things quietly eat into most accounts I look at. I find those leaks, close them, and tell you where every pound went.

Everything your Google Ads account needs.

What you get from a Google Ads freelancer who's spent eight years inside agencies.

Audience and intent research

Who's searching, what they're trying to do and what they need to see, mapped before a single keyword goes live.

Account audit

A line-by-line review of structure, keywords, search terms, bidding, assets and tracking, with the fixes ranked by impact.

Campaign build

New accounts or rebuilds structured around your services, locations, margins and the intent behind each search. Not a template.

Search term control

Tight match types, thorough negative keywords and weekly search term reviews, so you only pay for relevant clicks.

Conversion tracking

GA4, enhanced conversions and call tracking, plus qualified leads and sales fed back from your CRM as offline conversions. Google then bids for customers rather than form fills.

Ads and landing pages

Ad copy written in your customers' language, and practical changes to the pages your ads point at.

Google's automation is useful, but it needs guardrails.

Performance Max, AI Max and Smart Bidding can work well. Left alone, they'll also happily spend on your own brand name, irrelevant searches and low-quality placements, then report it as a success.

  • Clean conversion data, so the algorithm learns from real enquiries
  • Brand and placement exclusions where they matter
  • Search term and asset reviews every week
  • Results checked against your actual leads, not just Google's numbers

More detail: what AI Max and Performance Max change, and the guardrails to add.

You'll know what your ad spend is doing.

Every month, the person running your ads tells you what happened and why, without the jargon.

No 40-tab dashboards. Four questions answered: what you spent, what it brought in, what I changed, and what's next. Ask anything, any time. If something isn't working, you'll hear it from me first.

Compare it with yours: what your PPC agency should be telling you every month.

Added 96 negative keywords from search term reviews. Split boiler servicing into its own campaign with its own landing page.

What's next

Test a call-only ad on mobile during opening hours. Review the Bath area, where leads cost more.

Illustrative numbers, not client data.

Owner-led businesses that want a steady flow of enquiries.

  • Trades and home services: builders, roofers, electricians, landscapers, installers
  • Clinics and health: dental, physio, aesthetics, private healthcare
  • Professional services: solicitors, accountants, financial advisers, consultants
  • B2B services: manufacturers, IT, logistics and specialist suppliers
  • E-commerce: Shopping and Performance Max for online shops, bidding on profit (POAS) rather than revenue, joined up with Meta ads

Google Ads questions

How do you choose which keywords to bid on?

By starting with the person searching, not the keyword list. I map the searches your customers make at each stage, from early research to ready-to-buy, and work out what they need to see at that moment. Budget goes to the searches that show real intent, and the rest are either given their own approach or excluded.

How quickly will I see results from Google Ads?

Search ads can bring enquiries within days of going live. Expect the first four to eight weeks to be about learning: finding the searches that convert, cutting the ones that don't and letting bidding settle. Most accounts are noticeably more efficient by month three.

Can you fix an existing Google Ads account?

Yes, and it's often the best place to start. I'll audit what's there, keep what works and fix wasted spend, broken tracking and poor structure. A rebuild is only worth it when the account history isn't helping you.

Do you use Performance Max and AI Max?

Where they fit, yes. Google's automation is useful, but it needs guardrails: clean conversion data, sensible exclusions, brand controls and close watching of search terms. I won't hand your budget to a black box and hope.

Is Microsoft Ads (Bing) worth it?

Often, especially for B2B and older audiences. Clicks tend to be cheaper and campaigns can be imported from Google, so it's a sensible test once Google is performing, if your audience is there.

How much does it cost?

A flat monthly fee, set by your ad spend and how many channels I manage. It isn't a percentage of spend, so you always know what you'll pay. You'll get a clear quote after our first conversation, and it's monthly rolling, so there's no long contract.
